ok. i need to do something else to my truck to get it faster. here's what i got so far:

1996 GMC 1500 w/ 5.7 350
current mods:
intake (desilenced)
programmer (hypertech - got it cheap!)
exhaust ( flowmaster 40 dual in / out w/ turndowns)
shift kit
corvette servo


what should i do next for about $400

 

headers or cam

 

So do you have a cold air intake or just took the silencer out? I would say get a cold air kit if you don't have one. A good set of long tube headers and gutting/cutting off the cats will give you a noticeable increase as well.

 

Nitrous

 

CAI, LT headers, Electric fans, torque converter, a custom tune from Wester's/Wait4me/who ever, Roller Rockers and a cam. Oh yea, high flow cats too with 2.5 intermediate pipe.

 

Roller rockers arent necessary if you get the right cam to begin with, accelerated ratio roller rockers are jsut a patch for a stock cam.

 

ive got intake, i took the air box out and put a filter on the end

i can't do lt headders cause my truck is dropped 5/8

 

3.73's or some 4.10's

 

Save a little more a get the torque coverter. It will not make it much faster, but it will make it quicker. Or a nitrous wet kit.

 

for $400 i would get some shorty headers and some 1.6 rocker arms. comp makes 1.6 rockers that look just like the stock ones for about $100-120
