Default What to do with $2000

Newbe here to LS series motors looking for advice. I bought a 5.3 complete for $500 from fan to converter (harness, puter, acc.) for my 67 c10. I pulled the heads to have a look. To my disappointment the exhaust seats are pitted as are the valves. Should I rebuild the heads or spend the money for something better?????
The budget is $2000. What would you do? Keep in mind this will be a daily driver (sort of).
Also, I'm liking the looks of the TR220-112 cam.
Any thoughts?
BTW, very informative site. Thanks in advance for any help. (I know. Should have bought a 6.0)

You could still buy a 6.0 and take everything off the 5.3 for less than 2k I would think...

A new set of heads for the 5.3 is cheap, how are the cylinders?

replace the heads if you find you a good deal as you probably will anyway in the future. the tr220 is a great cam for a daily driven 5.3. i got a tr224 in my 6.0 and love it. get about 3000-3200 stall, 3.73s, mod 4l60e tranny, headers, exhauast of course...about 2k give or take depending on deals you find. good luck, rob.

i bought a set of low mileage 706 heads for $100, if you look and ask around you can find deals. if you have $2000 to spend i'd try to find a set of 243s and buy the cam you want, add a tune (wheatly is good from what i hear) and you'll have a good performing truck

Thanks everyone. On a positive note, the bores and bottom end are spotless. I'll check the classifieds and see what I can find.
