Default What Diff. Does Lift Make?

Comparing a Comp 212/218 .522-.529 LSA 114 to a 212/218 .558-.563 LSA 114. What are the performance differences?

Thanks, Jay

Generally, more lift gives more hp on the top end but decreases some low end. If you go with that higer lift cam you will need to use new valvesprings too. Something like '03LS6 springs or Comp918s. I would lean towards the comps.

I've got my eye on some 918's and some chromoly pushrods as well. I've searched a lot of threads for cams and I think the 212/218 is for me, just didn't know about the lift numbers. I don't want to lose any bottom end for sure!

If the you go with the 212/218 52X, you won't loose any low end.

Generally higher lift cams have a more aggressive profile and make more power throughout the power curve. They also are harder on the rest of the valvetrain and require stiffer valvesprings and hardened pushrods.

Tiburon, Didn't I read on a post somewhere you said that you thought your cam could have been a little bigger 216/220 or something like that. Any particular reason?
