I say go for the best stuff the stall is going to be the best mod by far on these trucks.
1.3000 stall or better i would go with the 3500 tci ssf
2.intake (homemade or store bought)
3 electric fan
4.custom tune dont go with hand held
5.nitrous atleast a 100 shot
6 E.T streets or nittos
an easy 13 second combo add cam and all the other and have a real 12 second excab.

I have an RC, but I get what you're saying.

1. Underdrive Pullies
2. LS6 02 cam (unless you can think of a better one)
3. LS6 CNC ported alu. heads
4. Hypertech or Nelson tune
5. 4.10 rear
6. Either VR king cobra, Volant, or AEM brute force air intake
7. VR velocity stack

Like I said, if you can think of a better cam, please tell me about it. And does ported mean the same as milled? The reason I ask this is because the LS6 heads are slightly larger and if they are'nt milled or something like that, there is a loss in compression, and makes for a loss in power (At least I think so).

Nelson tune or hypertech, what do you guys think? 4.10, but if a 3.90 is better, let me know as well.

The king cobra has a pretty hefty claim of a 1.4 second improvment in th 0-60 times and 3-4 mpg on an ECSB 5.3L, so not sure where to go on the intake.

Also, is the VR velocity stack worth it? It shows a .6 loss in Hp, but 22 lb/ft of torque for $50 bucks. Will this insert in the TB decress the HP potential of other mods?

Finally, what times can I expect with these mods? Sorry about all the questions. BTW, I tried to organize it a bit with paragraphs, but failed

Default go fast combos.

like a previous person said,,,,,,,,,do you want to be quick (stop light to stop light),,,,,,,or do you want to be fast (top end),,,,,,like alot of other folks here,,,i agree the top two mods are going to be a custom tune,,,,,,,,,,,and a stall,,,,,,you sound like you maybe restricted a bit by your folks,,so here is the cheapest way i could recommend going fast.,,,,,,,,,since you already have posi,,,,,,,,here goes and the following reasons,,

3000 stall,,,,,,,,i got a yank 2600,,,even though great on its own,,,everone said i would want a 3000,,,,,and i did,,lol,,,,so either get a yank,,or tci are two of the top contenders,,,usually good for 0.5 seconds off the quarter mile
450.00 (tci) 600 ish (yank)
next,,,factory exhausts,,are 2 7/8 inches,,,,,,,but the most restrictive part,,is the 55 gallon drum muffler,,,so either just cut out the factory muffler,,and have a dyno max bullet muffler welded in,,or replace cat back with 3'' pipe and the bullet,,,
bullet muffler 35 bucks,,,65 bucks installed,,or cat back,,,approx 200-250
next is going to be a decision,,,,some like home made intakes,,some like aftermarket,,but for a really good cheap set up,,,get an air raid mit (modular intake tube,,and a drop in k and n style air cleaner,,,
intake tube,,100 bucks,,,,drop in,,,35,,,,and then drill several small,,or one large hole in the bottom of your stock box,,
,,next,i would do these together for time savings,,,,get a transgo shift kit,,.500 boost valve,,corvette servo,,,,put it in,,and call nelson,,or other custom tune shop,,and have him make you a tune for the stall/shiftkit combo,,and have him take out 100 percent of torque management,,,while your at it,,put a tranny cooler on it,,,,i used a b and m super cooler,,55 bucks
tune,,,350,,,shiftkit/servo/boost valve/cooler/tranny fluid 250

at this point,,if you went with the cheapest options,,you would only have spent 1250 bucks,,,for simple proven parts,,and in a reg cab short bed,,should be doing low/mid 14.xx times,,,at this point,,,things change a little,,,if you want to go quicker,,,stop light to stop light,,,3.73/3.90/4.1 gears and an eaton while your at it,,,would probably be your next bet,,,for bang for the buck,,,,just gear change,,with stock posi,,will be around 350 installed,,with an eaton,,around 700,,give or take. if you chose a lower gear,,you should see low 14,xx's,,for sure,,,,

after that,,,you could complete your exhaust,,with some longtube headers
dont waste your time with shorties,,,,,700ish ,,,or some asp pulleys,,225 ish,,
electric fans,,,,200-500 depending on your taste,,,,,

also,,,some people will agree with me,,some people will argue the particular parts or the order,,,but this is a very basic,,inexpensive way to go fast for cheap (,,,least expensive,,,horsepower and go fast goodies are never cheap)

hell,,you could do 3000 stall/4.10/nelson tune and it would be a total sleeper stop light to stop light ,,quiet and quick,,,

along the way,,,,you should do things like,,,,take tire height/weight/width intoconsideration,,,,,some 22's with a big tire,,can weigh 90 pounds a piece compared to stockers in the 55 pound range,,,,,what kind of traction are you getting now,,,,keeping tire pressure optimum,,,how do your spark plugs and wires look,,,keep fresh oil in your crankcase,,,take out junk and clutter in your truck,,,same horsepower,,will move a vehicle quicker and easier for a lighter vehicle as opposed to a heavier one,,,etc etc,,,,,

this forum has lots of good people that are usually willing to help out,,,learn from our mistakes,,,(some mistakes cost alot of money),,,,,for example,,i had a hypertech,,,,it was ok in its own right,,,,,,,,spent 350 bucks on it,,year and a half later,,got a nelson tune,,and it blew the hypertech away,,and nelsons re-tunes for future mods are free,,except for shipping,,,or,,,some guys getting crazy 2.5 inch dual exhausts with fancy x pipes,,,,and no mods besides a k and n intake and wonder why they lost hp down low,,,a 3'' single will support close to 400 horsepower by the way,,,so anyhow,,,good luck,,and do searches,,etc,,,and have a great day,and be safe,,

Good god ol'boy, calm down!!!! Just wanted to hook up and talk truck stuff!!!
Maybe swap a few ideas or help each other on our rides! I'm working on two other of my buddies trucks that r pretty much stock and they want a little more gogo!! My best friend works @ Austin Performance and he can help you out on parts. He tunes on my 9sec. street car for me @ the track. He makes a little money and I have my own personal mechanic that I can trust!!!

You can find a used Hypertech all the time for less than $200 bucks. Feelings about the pulleys seemed mixed at best, and I agree with 02denali that there are much better choices for cams out there. If you already have the G80 posi (factory) and 3.42 gears I would hold with that for now, as too much gear leads to more traction issues. I'd get those pieces on first then look into a cam and valvetrain. Save you money on the heads for now as well, until you decide what you overall goal(s) are for the truck. I'd save the $50 from the VR stack as well, it seems to be useless. You can get the converter, programmer, AEM, and catback and headers for around $2000. That should put you into the 13's with a RCSB.
How much for the dry shot system, if it's for sale still????!!!!???

OK fine I admit it, my real goal is to run 12s, but without a 4l80e, and either a TC or SC that's not possible right?

If 2K is "pushing it" you may want to go with one mod at a time. If you can handle it at once, headers, a 212/218 cam, and tune will totally change the way your truck feels.
Im in a heavy *** Tahoe, but I spent 10K on mods last year.
