Default What are all the go fast goodies for 5.3L Silverado?

My buddy just took his (2000)truck to the track, completly stock, 5.3L extended cab 4WD, 20,000 miles.

He did 4 runs and had a best of 16.1 et not sure of MPH.

We found a cat back from SLP for $500 that he likes but what other power mods can he do to it?

Are there any other Silverado messagboards out there?

Any one make LT Headers for the mighty 5.3L?

There are plenty of bolt-ons for the 5.3L trucks. Longtube headers (3 different brands), underdrive pulley, various intake setups, Hypertech, etc...

and the heads/cam are the same as the LS1, but with smaller combustion chambers. Port away!

First off, look at our sponsors TBYRNE and Thunder Racing over to the right. They have several truck bolt-ons. As far as headers, ASM's are the only true long tubes out there right now. There are a few othe mid-lengths out there and they are: The Other Guys, Hamms(take a while to get), Dean Lapoole, and edlebrock. There are also some shorties: JBA, Edlebrock, Gibson and a few others. You gcan also look at some of the guys on this board for the mods they have done. You can see all mine in my sig link. If your wanting a Silverado site that is performance related, your at the best site on the net for that. There are several other truck boards out there, but the are a kind of grab bag of all the trucks. No offense to them, because I visit a lot of them and there is info to be found, but for tech info, your here.

Dont forget about the free mods. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Most of the ones from the ls1 f-bodys will work on the trucks as well.

ill second fast 4.8 this board has the best info on these trucks because they are ls1 based, and most of these guys have a fbody or had one and know lots about these trucks/motors.

i have a 2000 also and i am planning on a ultimate performace design intake and HPP3 pretty soon. the UPD intake seems to be one of the best out there from what ive read and people on here and a few other boards are saying. the hpp3 would be even better for the 4x4 incase tire size changes are made, then the speedo can be re calibrated and the shiftpoints adjusted to make up for the heavier tires/wheels etc. several people have gone with true duals - 4.8 and some others, it can be done for less than 500 i believe with 2 flowmasters or magnaflows with pipeing and and X pipe. if he isnt looking for too much on the exhaust right now a cut out could also be put on pretty cheap.
my plan is a UPD then HPP3 then cut out (single 3in flowmaster 40 series will be on in a few days.)
Hope that helps out.
