I also feel that I got a great tune from Westers. Lyndon has been available whenever I call his toll-free number and he's answered several e-mails. Right now, I'm running his 89-93 tune and I love it.

If you go with Westers, say goodbye to HPTuners, LS1-Edit, etc. Westers locks his tunes so they cannot be read or changed by anyone but himself. IMAO that is reason enough to go with somebody else.

Why....if you worked hard and did not want your work to be given away for free.

If I were a tuner, I would lock every PCM I tuned.

and westers did not teach allen how to tune shiat. you need to tell butch02denali to quit filling you full of .i gained 4 tenths of a second from westers to nelson. and i also gained fuel mileage as well. hype. i dont think so. if all he was is hype i dont think he would be a sponser./

Then stay the L away from my PCM. I see your argument , but then again I'm the type that likes to fiddle with things, an the idea just goes against my nature.

The other problem is when you don't lock it and someone messes with it thinking they know what they are doing........who is to blame when something goes wrong? It would be more of a warranty thing with me.....everyone thinks they are a tuner until something goes wrong, then it is the "other" tuners fault.

That's a pretty lame reason to "go with somebody else." If you're hot stuff with HPTuners or LS1Edit, you won't need Lyndon or Allen or anybody else to tune your PCM, you can do it yourself. If you need one of those guys to tune your PCM, you're probably better off staying away from the tuning software. (BTW, that's not a personal dig -- if everybody understood how to use LS1Edit to its fullest potential, folks like Lyndon and Allen wouldn't be making money selling tunes. Just because someone can swing a wrench doesn't mean they can modify timing tables.)

GMC_DUDE, Lyndon locks his tunes to keep people from stealing them. Plain and simple. EVERBODY would steal them and call them their own cuz everybody knows they're the best.

You can still use a handheld to adjust tire sizes and simple **** as long as you don't make any performance changes. You could make performance changes, but you'd be losing a lot of power...
