Default Well I have my first leak.......

I was polishing the rims the other day and noticed a few drops of oil under my truck (in sig). I climbed under and looks to be a rear main seal. The truck now has over 288k on the LM7 5.3l. I have never replaced one before but the book manual looks pretty straight forward. How difficult are they? I have pulled the trans before so I'm familiar and comfortable with doing that. Any advice?

Remove the tranns and flex plate. And remove rearmain cover( rearmain will come with the cover) when you buy a new main it will come with the cover gasket also. Then get some red lock tight put it on the cover side of the main gasket and get little bit of grease and put on the crankshaft side , and get a rubber hammer tap the main gasket in cover. When that's done then put cover up against the back of engine lightly tap on and bolt up the bolt the flexplate and tranny back up and button up everything you taken off then done and hope no more leak
