Default Well I figured out the vibration! Wrong Flexplate!

Well I figured out the vibration! Idles and revs up as smooth as glass now!!!

Wheeler Motor Sports told me to install the wrong flexplate! ....even on the invoice in big letters run a "netural balanced flex plate" Well the engine was balanced for a counter weighted flex plate! I even had to wait over 6 months to get a back ordered one from ATI...wasted $200 on a chromemoly one.

James B. and I think the bearings should be ok...but the more I think about it I am not so sure...engine has about 1K miles on it as I had to use it to move items to my new house...the counter weight on the flexplate must weigh about 5-6 oz. Also, I was getting some oil seepage from the rear main which is mostly from the end of the crank being out of balanced...what do you guys think?

Crank is a Scat 4340 forged stroker unit with 4340 H-beam 5.7 rods and forged 30cc dish pistons with four bolt main caps running studs...also has a street fluiddamp dampnr

I will be ordering a HD flexplate and matching bolts from Summit Racing tomorrow....

Clay down at Wheeler Motorsports does not work there any longer!...he was the one who told me over and over to use a netrual balanced flexplate....this sure did cause me a lot of greif!

When doing an oil change how much floating metal should be in the oil on initial engine breakin? Oil was changed three times 20 miles 200 miles and 500 miles.

Whats Wheeler Motor Sports saying about this? Did you do the flexplate install yourself?

We had a similar experience with a buddies truck. The machine shop forgot to add the weight of the pistons when he did the math for the balance job !! We ran it about 5000 mi before we finally figured it out (with the rear main leaking oil) The bearings were beat out of it and the crank was checked and found to have numerous fractures. The machine shop guy stood behind it all and admitted his mistake. I would recommend pulling it completely down and going over everything just to be safe.
