Default Weird Problem

I have been pondering buying my dads 2000 Sierra. Its a 5.3. But it has little problems. For one, the gas gauge sometimes goes to empty and if you shift to park and back into gear it adjust itself back. Also under acceleration there is a rapid ticking noise the seems to come from the dashboard area somewhere. Not loud, and it doesnt sound like the engine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,
John

Edit: I guess this fits better in general truck, sorry!

my dad and I have both had the fuel gauge problem you speak of. he got his fixed and I'm just too lazy to get it fixed, nothin big though. as for the ticking noise, I'd consult a bomb squad.

The fuel level sending units are a common failure on these trucks...mine's a little flaky too. As far as the ticking, if it's not the engine, could it possibly be coming from the blower motor? (My engine's noisy as hell BTW)

lol. Good to know about the fuel sending unit. The brakes on his truck are worse than on my Fbody. they scrape and scratch all sorts of noises on braking thats what bothers me most, but i figure a good brake job would fix that.
