did you put aftermarket rockers on there? That sounds alot like like my issue of the rocker arm tapping the oil shield on the drivers side valve cover.

Also, why 7.425 push rods? Smaller base circle cam? If not, that may be your sound right there, but the frequency of the sound makes me think its isolated to only one cylinder.

the pushrods he sayd i should take the 7.425

i torqued the stock rockers to 26ftlbs according to Joseph Potak(how to build and modify GM LS-Series engines)

While pat may very well be right, you have to measure them. Thats the only way to know for sure, 100%. I didn't measure mine, but the math said to use 7.350, so I grabbed the 7.350 and 7.300 just in case. It turns out the 7.350 were a little too tight, and the 7.300 are on the loose side of acceptable. In a perfect world, I'd throw a set of 7.325 in there and be perfect.

So long as the rockers are stock and re-torqued to proper spec, you shouldn't have any clearance issues, but it can't hurt to check, with the higher lift cam, one of the arms may be hitting the oil shield. Im still dealing with that, I'm about to just remove it all together. Look for slight (VERY slight) marks on the oil shield at the nose and tail of the rockers.

Its a possibility, and worth checking.

Also, check exhaust manifold bolts. They have a tendency to need to be re tightened after a few heat cycles. Exhaust leaks can sound just like that too.

The stock LS lifters are roughly .050 shorter than LS7 lifters.

So the math comes out to 7.4 - .050 = 7.350.

However if your cam has a smaller base circle, you need longer rods. If I were you, I'd pull the valve covers, use a PR checker to make sure that those are the PRs you need, and also go ahead and check to be sure all of your rockers got torqued down. I think according to GM specs they're supposed to be at 22ft/lbs, but I don't think an extra 4 ft/lbs is going to hurt anything.

^^^^ exactly.. Like said the 7's are taller.. Even the 7.4's sold are technically longer then stock ones.. I think it could be a length issue.. Alot of aftermarket cams are ground on the same base circle, but some are not.

mine is an LSL LXL lobes

i opend the passenger side valve cover. checked every thing looks fine the rockers are right on the center.
retorqued all rockers and the sound came down like 70% less now retuned the truck agine(temp tune untill i go for the dyno) it also got better response all over the rpm

will check with the tunner about my prod length hope these dont go to waste
