Default WCCH stg2 243 heads

Head are off! Thanks Stewart (TxSilverado) for all the help! Everything looks pretty good for having 151k miles.

Drivers side

Passengers side

All the lifters looked the same. Pretty awesome for 151k miles

The drivers side head when it was taken off it has a reddish coat on the rockers and the surround of the head... anyone know why?

Passenger side looks normal

Crap all over the place now lol

Gonna send off my set of 243's that i am going to get worked over, my 5.3l heads with the prc dual springs, and one bad 243 head to Richard (the 5.3l heads and one 243 are cores) to Richard on Monday. Now all ill need is patience

Ill keep yall posted when i get the heads back and let yall know how everything turns out

Sounds good man...as for the "reddish" coating, I've noticed that the oil residue on the head with the PCV valve in the valve cover (driver's side) always seems to look darker than the passenger side on these engines...I've noticed this on other manufacturer's engines also.

definitely a badass upgrade, the truck is gonna run even stronger, now a cam would be needed to get full performance out of the new heads you got the stall id got for it

Already has a 226/226 584/584 112+4 cam.

The heads are going to be milled .035 with a stock gasket to get a compression ratio around 9.7.1. Its getting the bigger exhaust valve but leaving the intake valve stock for clearance. LS7 lifters will be going on place of the stock ones.

I don't want to mill them any more because they will eventually be going on an LQ4. So with having a 60cc head the compression ratio on the LQ4 should be around 10.8.1 with a stock gasket. Im leaving room for upgrading

Thanks guys! Goal is mid 12's with these heads... it already runs low 13's in a 2000+ DA on slicks so with good weather and traction i could see it possible. Any lower than that will be icing on the cake

They will be shipped tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks for all the kind comments guys. Hoping for some nice top end increase!

Ill be putting LS7 lifters in place of the stock ones. The stock lifter trays will work the LS7 lifters right?
