Default Wasegates,Blow-Off Valves, Boost Controllers?

I'm am not schooled on all the details of the Turbo world even though I have one so here goes.
I know what a wastegate does, and am pretty sure what a blow off valve does as well.
The boost controller seems like something that would act as a blow-off as well?
The questions I have are....

What are the combinations of these items that are possible in a boosted system?

What benifits does one have over the other when being used to control boost pressure?

Finally something more specific to my system, I have the STS base kit and want to go to about 8psi max. I am getting an Eaton posi, and bigger injectors after that. A new tune obviously, as well as a wastegate spring capable of giving me the max boost pressure I need.

Would an electronic boost controller be the best for a two level boost senario?

Would a mechanical boost controller give me what I need or do they only come in one setting.

I have not really researched this, but have seen a few things on the subject here and there.
Please school me on the subject.
Thanks everyone.

the boost controller offered from STS offers two settings. You have the stock setting which is controlled by the wastegate at the turbo by a pressure spring set at STS most likely at 5psi. Then you have the manual controller which allows you to dial in any boost setting you wish, in my case 5-15psi. Once you set that, the toggle allows you to switch between stock, and your set boost level. Controllers will also put your oil pump in to high mode if you set it up.

BOVs release boost pressure between shifts and when you let off the gas. Dont want to be boosting while you are off the gas.

There are other boost controllers available on the market that I think allow for boost adjustment from inside the vehicle, but the STS controller is not like that.

I highly suggest an intercooler if you want to run 7+ psi

Forgot to mention the intercooler I will have as well. Thanks for reminding me to state it.
So you can choose between no boost and whatever level your system is capable of then?
Or can you have lets say 4psi for everyday and 8psi for racing and having some fun?

You cant choose between no boost or boost but rather high and low. A boost control modulates the vacuum signal to the wastegate holding it closed longer or opening it sooner.

yea, you can only choose between two settings. The only way to adjust the 1st setting is to have the wastegate spring changed. The 2nd option is user controlled

So one more question about boost controllers.
What brand would be good for a two setting type set-up?
STS is pretty vauge about it on their site. No pictures or examples to see or read about.

I am looking into boost controllers and methanol injection myself. Yes STS is vague on both of the options they offer. Here are a couple of options to check out.

Boost controller - TurboSmart

Methanol Injection - AlkyControl
- CoolingMist

Time to search around here a little and Google the net and you should come up with some solid options.

All part of the fun.

i got mine from homedepot its the same thing as an aircompressor air regulator. all it does is provide air to the top of the waste gate spring to help push down the higher you turn up the regulator the more pressure is applied to the top of the waste gate so in turn the more pressure it take to open the wastegate from pressure under the diafram. its rather simple but as said before you cannot go below the spring rated pressure.
