Do you know if Nelson tried flashing in an 01+ operating system? The 99-00 PCM's are prone to false knock, especially once an aftermarket cam is installed. I went through this with my truck after my cam swap, and as you can see in my sig I have a very mild cam. I swapped in an 02 PCM and that cured my false knock problems. Since then, tuners have learned that you don't need the whole PCM, but can just flash the newer OS in. I'd think that Nelson is aware of this but you never know, anybody can overlook something.
If that nut was left loose from the get go, it would have given you problems sooner, including noise and a possible misfire as it quickly worked itself off.

Yea, seems like Comp should stick to cams, everything else they make seems to break...springs, lifters, rockers. I don't remember hearing about this many product failures from them 20 years ago...
The TrickFlow cam that I'm planning to get is ground by Comp...if I start hearing about flattened lobes I'm totally giving up on them

yeah i know but this is not the first problem i have had with the motor. do yall think the bolt could have been left loose and made it this long before it finally decided to jump off? i have had a problem with false knock and wondering if the bolt being loose would mess with the valve causing false knock?
