i have a gibson cat back dumped before the rear axle on my truck right now. i want it to be quieter but still have a nice mellow rumble to it but mainly be quieter at highway speeds. has anyone used hushpower mufflers before? how did you like them? any other suggestions?

Try adding a tailpipe to it. I changed up my exhaust some and added a tailpipe and it's an entirely different sound.

 

I am re-doing mine for a quieter exhast as well.. the exahust shop said the 20" Dynomax super thrush is about as quiet as I can get with a performance muffler, will be trying it in a couple weeks. I will post clips when its done.

 

x2 on adding a tail pipe. Dumped resonantes the sound between the road and the bed. I it dumped mine after 6 years to make it louder a few years ago. Sounds like a whole new exhaust system.

 

My Gibson cat back was way to quiet for me when it had dual tail pipes coming out under the rear bumper. I removed the pipes and dumped it before the axle and it's night and day louder (I actually like it that way ) As mentioned, try adding a tailpipe to the muffler, I bet that it will quiet it down considerably.

 

i thought about doing that but i dont like the look of a tailpipe coming out from under a truck. if i do that i will need to find some way to hide the tip

 

Dump it down right behind the bumper or rear panel. Have them keep the pipe up as high as possible and then dump it down at the last minute. I don't think the tailpipes look that bad. I'll go take some pics of mine real quick.

Nice bending and hanging skills

I can vouch for slight changes making a huge difference, I removed my Corsa tip, and the exhaust has a complete different note.

Anyways, useless rant over.

 

I've had so many different exhaust setups on my truck that I've got brackets and stuff hanging all over haha.

They had that rear section of the pipe was bent too far forward so I had them bend it back out a little (hence the small indention on the back bend).

I paid $60 for the pipe, labor, and welds (removal and installation of new muffler included). So I'm not complaining
