Vortech SC questions
Ok, my friend is going to buy a new Vortech supercharger for his 2004 silverado 5.3 from 4wheelparts cause he has a big credit limit with them an thats the only way he can afford it. But anyways, does anyone know if they are really good are not? Do they put out good power #s? Or does anyone have any experiance with one? BTW, I know they are not as good as the Radix or maybe the prochargers but how does it compair? Later

The Vortech kit with no Aftercooler is pretty easy to install and is good for about a 100hp increase. Their Aftercooled system will add another 30hp but they don't have this kit with programming for the regular Silverado yet.

Mine should be on this weekend or as soon as Wester's gets around to sending the update I ordered 6 weeks ago. I ended up spending about as much as a Radix when all was said and done, but I think it will have more potential b/c it can make over 20 plus pounds on the 5.3. Of course you would need a serious build to handle that. After injectors (450), tune (500), alky (400) and some other misc parts It should make good power. I'll let you know. If he is pinching pennies maybe he should wait a while on the blower purchase. Unless you have access to a lift, air tools, and feel comfortable tapping your oil pan, you should plan on another 800-1000 to have it installed. Ive also heard the FMU doesnt keep fuel pressure constant enough. Good luck with it.
