5500rpm is about the limit of the stock rod bolts. Its nice to see people are swapping this engine. You could of got a cam from comp and retained the stock fire-order but it looks like you gotter figured out.

Wow, look nice. Did not know that you can run old big block style roller cams. Does the firing order need to be change to do this?

Also so what your saying that say 454 headers should bolt up, with some port-matching??

Keep the 8.1 motor ideas coming. I have been seeing a activity of motor pick-up in last week, on the forums

Default hedders on a 8100

I ordered a set of hedders from Autozone, the cost me $119.00 and the bolted up to the 8.1 engine using M8x1.25 bolts and standart hedder gaskets.

the exhaust ports on the 8.1 are a lot smaller then the hedder tubes, so i just installed them no port matching..maybe one could match them, but you'd be grinding a lot of metal. the 8.1 has the D shape exhaust ports, but to me seem pretty small for such a large motor.

firing order did change without any problems. the 4-3 7-2 swap are opposed cylinders, 4 and 7 reach TDC and 3 and 2 reach TDC at the same time, just one is on compression, one is cycling from exhaust to intake stroke.

the throws on the crankshaft are in the same place as traditional big blocks.

on my 8.1 install im using a wasted spart ignition, so it was uneffected from the cam change, it fires a spark to two cylinders every time it fires...

if one was to install the ZZ502 cam in a factory ECM controled engine, i dont know what would happen. apart from changing the wiring of the injectors and coil packs, i dont know how misfire detection and bank to bank fuel trim would be effected.

I would defiantly not recommend port matching the exhaust ports it will mess up the cylinder scavenging.

But 454 header, should bolt up, and then some fab work clear everything should work. Or the larger size ports on the headers would hurt horsepower production??

Be nice if they did work I would rather spend couple hundred dollars, than $700 and wait 4-6 weeks for them, even longer since take time to save for them. I really don't care if they are coated or not.

but on the other side, I really need the hptuners setup, but long for long tubes headers and gears(4.56's). agggh deisions aggh
