Default Vortec 6.0 to LS2 conversion.

Hello,

I have a couple of questions. The Vortec 325 hp that comes in Hummer H2 is a 6.0, so is LS2. What are the differences besides the aluminum/iron block, cam and heads? Can Vortec 6.0 be converted to an iron block LS2 just by swapping heads and cam? Do LS6 heads flow more than LS2 heads? Does LS6 cam make more power than LS2 cam? Could LS6 cam and heads be put on the 6.0 Vortec without problems?

Thank you,
Roman.

The ls2 is a gen IV engine. lq4/9 is a gen III. The ls2 and ls6 heads are the same as the lq9 heads from what i know and flow the same ammount. except the chambers are bigger and they will lower the compression ratio when bolted on. I'll let everyone else fill in the blanks or correct me

ls2 oil filter is up front instead of the back..you would need to make a pan for it to fit the trucks..or the ls2 oil pan could fit i may be wrong but i know there in different locations

a LS2 is nothing more then a LQ9 with 243 heads to bump the compression up. but you have a LQ4 so its not the same. strenght in internals is different also

Thank you for the replies.

Well in that case, what would that 6.0 make with LS6 cam and LS2/LS6 heads to the motor?

I have ported Heads from WestCoastRacing(Richard) with LS6 Cam, At high RPM after 30mph, My Yukon Denali pulls like train, it's weighted at 5800lbs. you'll definately feel the power at top END.
You'll also need tranny mods.
