I think between the two, its about cosmetics, unless you go with the volant ram air option. I got the AEM Brute Force polished intake and it looks really nice and is a simple set up.

I got the AEM and I am happy with it. Feels the same as the K&N Gen II that was in my 99 5.3.

My AEM isn't bad. If I'd have had the money when I did it though, I'd have gone with the complete setup from Volant. The intake tube being metal on the AEM does tend to pick up a little heat and if you don't have Efans you'll either have to trim the plastic on the fan shroud for the intake tube, or deal with a rattle if you floor it from a roll.

another vote for aem here simple easy and good gains

only draw back is the aluminum tube, but that is a plus if you plan on doing any sort of injection

I don't get much debris at all in my air box. They designed the box so that pressure from the ram air cannot build up in the box. They put a 5"x5" hole in the side of the box where the original air box would take in air.
This also eliminates possible water and excessive debris ingestion in the box.
I've heard if you close off the hole in the side of the Volant box that you will feel quite a difference after 30 mph, than leaving the hole open.
Though I don't recommend it unless your just putting down some numbers at the track or doing some weekend cruising .
