I've been to Wall once or twice, but not in a long time. Took my truck to Island this year and made a few passes.

I kinda had a feeling that you had the HS's first and that influenced your choice. The thing that got me looking at the Vinci stuff was tdrumm's dyno numbers a few weeks ago...his 5.3 put down 310/320 at the rear wheels with the Vinci 062 and the usual list of mods.

I would look to some other choices, I don't know how much you can gain from the other lobes. I know this Comp lobe is mild compared to some of the others. It has to do with ramp speed. I know alittle from my oval track car ,but not enough. I thought of changing when I have the heads off next week, but decided against it. I am going to start another truck I think.

When the time finally comes, I'll probably have my father talk to his Comp rep and grind something for me I guess. (it'll be somewhere in the 216-220 intake lobe range on a 114). A month ago I was dead set on a TR220-112, mainly because it's tried and true and has the nice lopey lope. Cam Motion gave me one recommendation (218/218), FMS gave me another (224/224), and I've had numerous suggestions bigger, smaller, and in between ever since. The more I research, the harder it is for me to decide

I have a small lope, you could use alittle more cam than I have I think. Maybe the tr224, I know Allen has had sucess with it, I am not sure about all of that duration with a heavy truck, Marc W used a tr220 in his SS and said it had no bottom end , then went to the 042 Vinci, I know he loved the 042 210/218, this all was with a stock stall, he added the Crane rockers after and saw a difference.

The TR224 was actually my first choice, but after some correspondence with Thunder they recommended either your cam or their TR220...basically said that the 224 might be a bit too soft down low to get my truck rolling, especially considering my 33" tires I'm currently running (plan to lose those eventually too though, in lieu of some Gibbs 20's and 285/50's)

No stall yet, but there's definitely a TrailBlazer in my future. My truck's slow, but getting better. Last year I ran 16.5@81.7mph with just bolt on's and my 33's (BFG 285/75R 16 All Terrains). This year I went 15.6@89.5 after the cam and PCMforLess tuned 02 PCM (same tires). Haven't been back since the 05 e-fans...they might be good for a tenth or two.

Do you have any times with your current set-up?

Im sure TD's cam is great, but more power can be made with a TR or FMS cam. Not a whole lot of people use Vinci cams. Yes there are a few on here in the truck section. But I never see people with them on Tech. Comps XER is a more aggressive/power making, developed and researched lobe. Just dont go too small, youll just be upset in the end. That and youll just be swapping cams again. Unless thats something you want to do. I went way too small with my 212/218 and I wanted more cam.

I hear that man, I definitely only want to do the cam once this time around...that's why I'm asking so many questions.

Yeah, I went 14.20 @ 95mph last nite. That was the first and only time ever. I was alittle disappointed, but I think it is really pretty good for the stock stall and 20s. I really wanted to get 13.9 on the stock stall , even with the new heads its not going to happen. So I will be getting a stall, might as well I went this far. lol
Cam choice is tough as hell, if you want hear mine maybe we can meet up, I think you could use more with the truck being lighter.
