Default VHP 080 Torque Cam

Thinking of adding the VHP 080 cam to my truck for some extra towing power. I'll probably do headers (either stainless works or pacesetter) and exhaust with the cam. Will this cam work good for a towing rig set up? Also, will it require dual valve springs or single springs? Looking for something mild as this daily driver and trail rig tower.

I had it in my Radix'ed 5.3 for awhile, worked very well. Loads of low-end torque, idled like stock. I went bigger in the bigger motor cause I could, but I am leaving the 080 in my 5.3 for the sandrail my dad and I are planning on building.

You should be able to get away with a set of LS6 springs (max lift .57), the 080 cam is .551 lift. When I bought my 080 I also bought the 1.8 roller rockers, so I had to buy their dual springs and titanium retainers, but if you stick with the stock rockers you will be fine with LS6 springs.

Anyway, if you haven't called Vinci yet do it, they are great to talk to on the phone, and I did buy another Vinci cam for the new motor as well, if that says anything.

Thunder, your last two lines say a lot. I won't do business with someone who remotely screws me a second time. I'll definatly look into it.

Thanks

You will enjoy talking with Joe and Roger. I run their cam and their 1.85 accelerated lift rocker package. Quality job and they know what they are doing......

My sig shows the minor mods I have done to my 2004 Avalanche in the last year.
I drove into Vinci at 407 RWHP. I drove out at 500 RWHP with the same timing tables I drove in on and was still rich up top.....They scheduled me before I left to drive down and got me out when they said they would two days later. They let me be part of the build throughout.... Great experience...

I've spent lots of time with Joe and Roger and I trust those guys absolutely. They won't steer you wrong.

When I do my next cam, it will be with Roger and Joe's help, you better believe it.

Another thing I like to tell about Vinci as it matters to me these days -- I'd have absolutely no issue with sitting down on their shop floor and eating lunch. The place is immaculate -- its a quality I've come to look for in a shop owner (and mechanic) -- pride in their tools, pride in their work place, and discipline.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll give them a call. I wonder if I should look at LS6 heads at the sametime? I though I would make it out at about 1,000 dollars with the cam installed but looks like it will be around 650 in parts. What is reasonable labor?

Are you staying N/A? If you are then you should get those LS6 heads milled down so you keep your CR up where it should be.
