Used 6.0L - What to look for
#1
Long story short, I've decided to upgrade from a 4.8 to a 6.0. New one costs over $6K so I'd like to go used. "Search" can tell of things like avoiding iron heads, getting the right crank, etc. but what do you look for in a used engine to ensure it isn't excessively damaged? Minor overhaul-type issues are no longer an obstacle, but there are horror stories on LS1Tech of guys buying an engine at a junk yard only to find all 8 rods broken, or that it's been struck in an accident and the crank is bent and/or the block is warped. How does one avoid these issues and be assured of a quality product? TIA
