I'd do a cam, verter, and tune...since your engine is basically a sbc, the cam should be considerably cheaper than a GENIII cam...unless that has changed since I bought my last one before I bought this truck 11 years ago

Yeah I was about to say that. If he had a GenIII though he would eat up through that budget pretty quick unless he got used parts.

You might want to invest in some Long Tube headers also if you haven't already, if you run a cam on the stock manifolds you won't get anywhere near the cams full potential.

Yea, the headers always made a big difference on my old cammed sbc's...but if it's not in the budget I'd do the cam first, just my preference

I would think about cam, rockers, intake, headers, and a tune. I am not a huge N20 fan, but that is the best way to make cheap power.

Are you guys in CA with these big cams haveing trouble with getting your truck to pass smog ? would a lt4 hot cam or a zz4 cam have trouble passing a sniffer ??

lol we had a shop here in town that would pass you for 150 but they been gone for a few years now .
