Update on 150 Dry Shot on bolt on 5.3
#1
Okay, I've been through 5 bottle fills (15lb.) throughout about 3 months so far on a stock 5.3 motor with the 4l60e auto w/ od transmission with simple bolt-ons (as seen in signature).
I am using NOS Kit #5176, which is a 150 dry shot.
The truck is an extended cab sportside with nearly 52,000 miles on it.
Motor still seems perfectly fine and running strong.
Transmission is a different story!
I hit the nitrous a week ago and directly after, my tranny was slippin', and horribly! Guess you gotta pay to play! But I am dang sure glad I payed for a warranty when I bought the truck that covers up to 100,000 miles or 5 more years!
--Luckily, I bought the truck used and got a 3rd Party Warranty on it! I took it to a GREAT shop where I kinda know the owner and he's gonna fix me up right and the warranty company will reimburse him (already approved).
The transmission is in the process of being rebuilt as we speak.
The guy who is rebuilding will be putting in a shift kit, billet silenoids, redline clutches, etc.
My NOS setup works off a throttle micro-switch and I don't let off during shifts, and I don't want to.
Anyways, after the new tranny is built, I am thinking of installing the rpm switch so the nitrous cuts off between shifts to help save the tranny next time, even though this one will be built right....nah, maybe not....we'll see.
Anyways, I just thought I'd share with everyone how the truck is holding up with that kind of a nitrous shot.
By the way, that particular Nitrous kit comes complete with an inline fuel pump (boosts fuel to about 100lbs) & everything needed for it to run right. It also sprays the Nitrous after the MAF sensor, but uses a vacuum to increase fuel pressure with the help of 2 solenoids...kinda weird...but it works!
Thanks for the time & hopefully my rearend will go out next so I can get a posi and 3.90 gears!

Still haven't been by the track & was never to concerned about the numbers. I just love pulling up to people in my totally stock looking truck (from the outside), and romping on 'em....lol!
But I will plan on going to Baytown when my transmission is put back in.
