It might be easier if you remove the two bolts and the push retainers and take the top half of the fan shroud off. Then you can get your arm down there and push it straight on. It takes less than a minute to remove it. Laughed my *** off at BadBlackZs post.

I just 5 minutes ago gave up on installing mine......after trying for about 45 minutes. There is no way that tube fits over my throttle body with the supplied grommet........I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!!! The other thing I noticed is that I probably would have to detach the air box base from the truck since the tube interfers with the radiator hose. It crosses over to the TB too low. Seems the outlet of the lid when mounted to the airbox is too low and at the wrong angle and the tube would never clear the radiator hose AND mount to the throttle body. Besides, I can't get the tube to mount to the throttle body with the supplied grommet. I absolutely followed the instruction to a tee and I have several vehicles and all have airlid and exhaust mods, so this is not the first time I am doing this kind of stuff. I alway use a teflon base grease that is very slick, helps to provide a perfect seal and does not attack the rubber. There is no reson this piece needs or should have this tight of a fit and I refuse to mount stuff like this with a crow bar and have the airpox hanging half lose in there. NO reason. I put the truck back to stock and the stock pieces fit niece, easy and snug on all parts. No reason to have to use brutal force to get this stuff to fit. I just called UPD and they were very nice....a tech is supposed to call me back within an hour or so......let's see....

I fought with mine for about 45 minutes also. The TB was the worst part. What I finally did was, place the rubber gromet on the TB by itself and then the tube slid right in. I couldnt believe it! I fought for 45 minutes trying to get this thing on and now it goes in 2 seconds flat! Lube helped alot also.

My biggest issue now is that the air bosx itself is about 2 inches from its mounts. If I try to get it on the mounts, the airbox will slide off of the MAF! I'll be calling UPD today!

NataSS......I tried that too and put the rubber grommet on first, but it did not work either and I lubes everything well too...this way the grommet would just distort.....
you know what I think !! I believe the tubes are hand molded and their manufacturing variances are so great that some tubes are too tight to fit
....this still doesn't address the airbox alignment issue though.....I had the same problem and took the whole thing off.....Screw it...I'll put it on eBay for sale soon.. I talked to Will at UPD and he was very nice and tried to be helpful, but couldn't think of any reason why the UPD wouldn't fit either...
quote:
Originally posted by NataSS Inc:

I got mine on about 2weeks ago and I love it. First intake I've ever owned, but I can tell a major difference.

The stock intake was easy to take off, and UPD was pretty easy to put on. Just follow the directions exactly as they say. The whole deal took me a little over 20mins. I'm very happy with it.

i wasn't really happy with the fit of the UPD. i don't know why they included the fernco. there is no way it could fit on the end of the tube. i just scrunched up the stock accordion fitting. it worked but it pushes the airbox over so it's no longer attached.

Just got finished installing two UPD's on a 4.8 and a 5.3, no problem on either one. The instructions could have been better and the installation pictures larger and clearer.

Nothing constructive to add but I have to ask a question. Brandon, what did you do to have BadBlackZ constantly rip on you? Judging by your post I think I can see why.

BadBlackZ, that earlier post was hilarious.
