Default underdrive pulley questions

03 denali 6.0....what p.ulley set would be good for me. is the money and install worth the gains? What should i expect to gain, and what side effects should i look for? What special tools do i need to install one? Any info given is appreciated Thanks for everything

I was looking at the asp kits, on kit with just the 25% harmonic dampener, one with that and the 23% alternator pulley, and one with the dampener and the a overdrive alternator pulley. I dont do alot of city driving but i also do use my vehice as my daily driver so what kit would be best for me? also i have electric fans if that matters

Side effects = weak electrical system.

gains...I think the consensus is usually around 5hp. Vehicle progresses through RPM band a hair quicker although probably won't notice much in the seat of your pants.

side effects...Like others have said, your electrical system will suffer. I have an 25% underdrive pulley in my Camaro with a 33% overdriven alternator pulley and I'd swear my electrical system still dropped off a bit, even considering the final drive of the alternator is a 1:1 ratio. The Camaro guys always used to say to get the overdrive pulley if you had an automatic transmission. I know in my truck, which spins its serpentine at stock speed, I find my voltmeter sagging quite a bit ever since I put in my electric fans. That might be something for you to consider if you do the pulley.

Bottom line, it's up to you, but I'd highly recommend an overdriven alternator pulley if you're going to do the mod. Good luck!

most people usually do this when they've done most of the bolt-ons already, and don't really wanna break into the engine just yet.
