Default Turbo with N20

I was just wondering if you guys thought this setup could work. My friend an I are both about buy a new STS turbo system. But my friend wants to be a set above the rest an add a small shot of N20 to his Turbo system.
Do you think his 03 scsb 5.3 could handel it?
If so what kind/size shot?

Yes, a small shot will work well. I would plan on doing a 50 shot, which with boost is more like 70-80RWHP. This will help to cool down the intake charge and actually help avoid detonation. Your motor loves the cooler air.

It will also help to spool the turbo and may allow you to cut some wicked 60' in that truck.

You could set it up to help the turbo spool up quicker and to get you of the line.

with a traditional turbo and intercooler i think it is better to get your power from the turbo if it is large enough. i did use the nitrous for the entire run at first but now i am just using it to help me spool and get off the line. with no nitrous i was pulling 1.9-2.0 60' times and with a 75shot for .3sec i was pulling a traction limited 60' in the high 1.6x's

with an sts kit i really dont know what problems you might run into. it seems like if the kit is not intercooled then the nitrous would help quite a bit but there may be some funny exhaust.

i am thinking with spray the exhaust volume may be so high you get boost creep or some other wierd problem. the exhaust is more dense back in the rear with a remote turbo and to me that means you will have more volume to get rid of. will the waste gate handle all of a 5.3+nitrous. probably but who knows. i say give it a try and let us know.

I'm going to run methanol instead and up the boost.

Parish hit the key points on the head. you may get boost creep among other quirks. just curious, how much are the sts kits? and what do you guys do for tuning, fuel, tech advice, intercoolers, etc?

Most STS kits are going for the mid to upper $3k range. Check out the website for any upgrades that some like to do.

Intercoolers: Some of us have went the OBX TBX-3000 route. Works great but is a little large and requires cutting a non load-bearing part of the frame. I htink the IC is almost overkill for a basic kit but at 15+psi it's going to come in handy...

Tuning: Usually handled by the local STS dealer or someone nearby. My shop does my tuning (See sig). Nelson Performance does the mail oder tunes for those without tuners available. I believe things will be set pretty mild with a mail order tune as you know how hard turbos are to tune.

Fuel: I am runing 43lb injectors, 255lph inline pump and methanol. I am going to upgrade to the Racetronix duel 255lph pumps and 60lb injectors.

Tech advice: Rick at STS usually helps out with basic stuff. Otherwise I find stuff in here or talk to my shop.

As for the nitrous on the STS kit. I think it is going to depend on what size shot you run and maybe what turbo and A/R you have. On a 60-1 base kit and 150hp shot you may run into boost creep and such. i really don't know but I would think that with the bigger turbo and a larger A/R say a .81 or .96 it may not be as big of an issue. Personally I am trying to go as fast as I can with just the turbo and see where that gets me. If I am still too laggy with the 6.0L and tons of boost then I may add a small 50 shot to get off the line.

Yea, thats about all he was goingt o use it for was to get off the line. An he only wanted o do about a 50 shot. So I guess I will let you guys know what happens with his setup.

BTW, what is boost creep?

An if I decide to go with more than 5+psi of boost, then do I need to change my injectors to?
