I noticed the autotap log posted by BigKID. The timing given out by that 2002 truck is very high. Using LS1 edit, I took the time to open several differnet truck files and compared them to my 99 PCM. Here is what I have come up with so far:
On my 99, in the upper rpms, my stock timing is anywhere from 8*-14* (depends on the MAF flow). On a 00 model, timing is similar, but is about 1* to 2* higher. My 99 hypertech moves timing up to the 22* range. Tuning for a stock 00 6-liter showed timing near 20*.
The autotap log for that 2002 year model showed timing @ 28* slowly dropping to ~ 25*. I assume it has hypertech installed, but that is several points higher than my hypertech gives out. These are good values. On LS1 cars, getting timing in the upper 20s is the goal.
I'm going to raise my timing some more and check the results.
