Default HPP 160* stat setting, OK to use with stock stat?

What does this option do, advance the timing a little more based on water temperature? I still have the stock 195* stat, should I choose this option anyway? If choosen and no pinging heard does that mean all is OK, or has the Knock Retard kicked in so the engine won't ping and actually hurt performance instead of helping?
Thanks, Jim

i wouldn't do it, just get the stat or do the stat mod, cooler is better.

i am prety sure it adds a little timing and it may lean it out some too, not sure. but i am sure that you wont hear any knock and you wont know if it is pulling timing due to knock unless you have some king of scan tool.

My HPP for my 2002 5.3 has no stat tuning. Should
it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
