Default Tuner For My Truck

I am wanting to get some tuning software for my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500, 4.3 5 speed. What is a good place to DL the software, and is the a place that i can DL configurations already set for max performance, or do i have to play with the setting myself. Also what is a good cam size for better performance, and is a cold airintake worth the money.

Thanks for the in put.

Hp Tuner's or EFI Live are both great programs..---->>>> links over there.
There is really no such thing as a pre-config for "max performance" There are some tunes you can download and look at what other people have done, but every vehicle is different. There are a lot of people on here to help with either program and they both have support forums.

Cam size I'm no expert here, but I can tell you that you will need to set some goals before anyone can help you on this question. Like how fast you want to go, daily drivability. I would say the best bet for performace is to dump the 4.3 and swap in a V8!

CAI's are not worth the cost IMO. You might get a few horses out of one but you can make your own for a lot less money and get about the same gains without spending $200+ on one. Basically the stock box is not really all that bad. You can also drill some big holes various places in the stock airbox to help improve air flow.

Wow, that cost more than just buying a tuner from like SummitRacing or something. I wanted the computer software cus i thought it would be cheaper.

It's expensive, but the capabilities are far greater than any handheld tuner. Another route you may look into is getting a mail order tune or a custom tune. That should be better than a handheld tuner as well and not expensive or as time consuming as buying the software.

Non IMHO......You are better off saving for the software and learning. If you are like any one of us, it will not stop at a cold air intake and a mail order tune.
