If you drive like me it won't I'd drop in an 80e before throwing that much at any 60e in a truck...a lighter F-body, maybe but not worth the heartache or $ in these bricks.

Well like i say, it's a DD and doesn't see a lot of track time. My buddy is giving me a 60e and having another buddy build it for like $600. The one giving me the trans says the guy built him a 65e for his 575hp truck and he has no issues. Said as long as you ain't running slicks all the time should be fine. Monster Trans has a 2300-2500 w/lockup stall for like $250... It might see the track maybe twice a month, maybe with drag radials a few times

Its twice that in parts for a 4L60E capable of holding 450 ft/lbs crank reliably. Many hard parts need to be swapped for heavier duty parts to make it last any real time. $600 only realistically buys you good performance clutchs/steels/reseal kit and maybe a shift kit. Stock 4L80E in good condition pulled out of the mud of a junkyard for $200 with a decent shift kit including dual feed mod will hold more power than ANY 4L60E build.

The 80e in an n/a application is a turd. Moreover, the stock converter is a heavy pile of ****.

Only swap to 80e if necessary.

Works great behind my 350 with 4.56 gears and a 29" tall tire. Also depends on which stock converter you run. The big block/diesel converter is horrible but the 4.3 dual stator high stall works well. Lots of torque multiplication from a stop and stalls about 2,400 rpm behind my old 350. The old 350 has a much different torque curve and makes alot more grunt in the lower rpms than a LS especially with a positive displacement blower. I only put down 290/330 through it NA but on a 150 shot it makes 410/460. No way I would trust a 60E to handle pulling around 6,200 lbs with that torque. On spray the stock V6 converter flashes 2,800. I spray the 80E through the shifts with ZERO torque reduction. Even stall torque reduction and abuse mode is disabled.

On my brothers 99 LT1 cammed 350 Suburban NA with the 60E I was pulling 40% of the torque on 1-2 and 2-3 even with the Transgo HD2 and Vette servo. With stock torque management it would torque flare on the upshifts. To keep it in one piece and keep from burning clutches I added more torque management to it. My buddies mud truck on 44s with a nice 383 I was pulling 50% reduction in the shifts and it still ate the 60E in 6 months. I had another buddy go through his well built 60E in his 97 in 15,000 miles after he begged me to zero the torque reduction against my better judgement. That was a stock long block 350 with shorty headers, exhaust, intake, E-fan and my aggressive tune in an 0411. Then again he also wanted it to shift 3-4 at WOT and against my better judgment and suggestion I did it too.

Sounds like a miserable dog. That amount of power is about half what it needs to get out of the hole.

It gets off the line better than it ever did with the stock stalled 60E with 3.73s even with 6-8k on the hitch.

If I want to have speed I get in my M56S. It ran 12.90s stock and has seen 170 mph. I have not been back since the tune or 100 shot has been added but it sure is fun on the highway. 140 mph in 4th @ 7,000 and 3 gears left to go. I was at 6K in 5th when I hit 170 and ran out of empty flat road and that was prior to he giggly.
