Question tsp 2.5 5.3 heads worth $500?

My buddy has a set of tsp 2.5 862 casting number heads. They are about 5 years old with PAC 1518 springs .660 lift. The heads have been on a tsp 408 with an sts rearmount and a ls1 tsp 220 cam. He currently put the ls1 back to stock all the way down to the cam. Heads have about 10k miles on them. They worth $500? Have a couple broke manifold bolts.

Thanks,
Steve

What would you be putting them on? I seriously wonder if larger heads will benefit the bore of a 5.3. I do think they are worth $500, but think the money might be better spent in other places.

Absolutely, theyre good heads, especially for what you can get them for. Be a good time to throw that cam in with some fresh lifters. A new top end ought make that 5.3 sing pretty good. A NNBS intake would complete the setup. Should be good for 70-80hp maybe a little more if you get the heads milled to bump the CR up a bit more.

They are still 61.15cc. If I buy them im gonna take them to our local (husband and wife) run it machine shop. They've been in business 20+ years. I'll have them do a valve job and remove the broke bolts. A .030 mill should make them around 58cc correct?

Get them, have the valve job done, clean them up. Might do a set of valve springs depending on How many miles on them.

I think .020" mill is closer to 58cc.

They'll be going on my 5.3. When I order my cam from stock48 I'm gonna get the isky valve springs also. Ls7 lifters or a set of stockers? Jarret says stock push rods are fine, but if I have the heads milled .030 push rod length is gonna depend on which lifter I go with correct?

Stock pushrods are wimpy and act like spaghetti at higher rpm.

Answered my own question with the search feature! Ls7 lifters are now the stock replacement! How much do you guys recommend milling the heads? It's a lm7.
