Default Truck won't come up to operating temperature

Started the truck back after driving for a bit and the gauge went to 210 then back to 160 and it sits there. The coolant is at temperature. I'm suspecting the coolant temp sensor in the block or the thermostat. What do you guys think?

Only two things it can be are what you mentioned. It's actually at 160 which points to the thermostat, or its at 190 and the gauge or temp sensor is wrong.

Just by feeling the coolant hose it seems to be at 190. I'm gonna swap sensors and see if that fixes it.

As I said the gauge went to 210 then back to 160 and stayed there. The hose feels to be at temperature. I'm also goin to check it with a thermometer just to be sure.

If the gauge went close to 210 before it fell then its prob not the sending unit... I would say your thermostat is stuck open. Although it usually sticks shut causing them to overheat. I would deff change that first tho as I imagine it's a much cheaper part than the sensor. Just my .02 cents...

my sensor would make the gauge jump around at times when it was on its way out sucked cause the truck ran like crap tryin to adjust to the temp the sensor was reading.

Well guys turns out were all wrong. Turns out its a bad PCM. Put my stock one in and all is normal. I just installed this PCM Saturday when I got it from Charlie Wheatley. Ive talked to him and he is taking care of it all. Just goes to show what a stand up guy he is. I cant say enough about his customer service. Most people wont do right by a customer when face to face with them but he more than goes out of his way to make sure everything is right and Ive only talked to him through PMs and a few times on the phone.

Yea Im just glad I got it sorted out. I was beginning to get a little frustrated trying to figure it out. We were beginning to suspect the gauge cluster.
