Default Truck Norris Cam or TSP Stg 2 High Lift Cam

How's it going everyone, recently decided to pull the trigger on installing a cam in my truck while having alot of other work done.

I love mild manners of TSP Stage 2(High Lift), but the numbers of the BTR Truck Norris Cam are undeniable.

Anyone here running the Truck Norris Cam, how are it's manners? I've watched a lot of videos on this cam most are wide open not much exhaust so seems very aggressive choppy. Seen a few with some exhaust that seem a bit more tame. I'm sure it comes down tuner and other mods as well. Just trying to figure out if the Truck Norris Cam will be too aggressive or not for me?

The other cam that has been commonly recommended to me is TSP Stage 2 High Lift Cam. Definitely seems much more mild mannered, would suit that for me. But the gains compared to the other worth it I just don't know?

What do you all think? Thank you for your time.

The BTR TN, Texas Speed chopacabra, and Richard Holdener low buck truck will all outperform the TSP stg 2 high lift IMO.

They are all on the small side for a 6.0L IMHO too. What do you use the truck for? Goals? I'd recommend stepping up a little from any of those cams. I daily my LQ4 swapped RCSB with one of those cams. It's OK, wish I would have gone bigger. Eventually will, I have other cams "in stock" to try.

@Summitracing's SUM-8728R1 212/218 110+3 .600/.585 Big Torkinator performs WOT the same (actually makes slightly more torque below 2700rpm) in a 5.3L as the BTR. So the extra lift of the Torkinator (or the TSP Stg2 HL) will have more potential even down low in the larger LQ9 with 317 heads. It'll pull hard from way down low. Can be tuned for a little smoother idle if desired (will be between the BTR and TSP in idle quality). You'll need better springs with either the TSP or Torkinator, but the Torkinator cam itself is less expensive than both; so springs + cam again, it's priced in between.

Summit carries both the BTR and of course their own camshaft. They did have an extra promo code going on (not sure if it's still valid, but if they check in, I'm sure they'll let you know).

Trucks just a weekend family hauler and toy hauler (nothing heavy). Not looking for outrageous power, everything has been pointing away from doing the TS Stage 2 High Lift.
I'll look more into the Summit Big Torkinator.

Richard Holdners Low Buck Cam is same very similar to the BTR TN anyone run his cams? I've been a fan of his yt videos, full of knowledge, these are phenomenal priced right now as well!

Definitely plan on doing Spings, Rocker Trunion kits, and LS7 Lifters. Of course anything else recommend with the cam.

Thanks for tagging us in this, @68Formula!

Hi OP,

It seems like you recently started a similar thread about cam recommendations for a comparable setup and goals in the Mild Cam or Wait discussion. From the details you shared there—2" long tubes, a 3,000 stall converter, and plans to add a supercharger down the road—we suggested the SUM-8720R1 in post 13 of that thread.

If the combo and goals have changed since then, we’d be happy to revisit our recommendation and explore other options with you. Just let us know, and we’ll do our best to help!

What gear ratio and tire size?

I've tuned lots of trucks with the btr 212/218 cam and it does pretty good.
I always error on the smaller side of camshafts and never picked one based off "cool" it sound at idle.

I use a bunch of the cam motion cams in DOD delete trucks and Everyone seems happy.
