Default Truck dies??

my trucki is not holding a charge at all. When first started it only runs at 8.0 volts then it starts to fall all the way down until it dies. Does anybody have any idea as to why it does this??

Bad alternator would be my first guess. Take it off and see if you can get it tested at a local Autoparts store, some of them have the stuff to do this.

Wrong? when the problem was first described "When first started it only runs at 8.0 volts then it starts to fall all the way down until it dies." that would indicate a bad Alt.....

Now description is "and your all wrong it is charging at 15 volts" This may be a wire.....

Year make and model please..........

it is a 99 silverado. i took the alt to autozone and they tested it and it was puttig out 15 volts. We looked at the wires and they seem to all be fine but we are going to test all of the wires tomorrow. I hope it is something simple. thanks for the help.
