so i got an 01 chevy 5.3 suburban, i just put a newer used motor in it about 2 mos ago. It runs great. I have an engine light on due to the new motor not having an egr, i got that figured out. Last couple of days intermitantly, the truck idles real low, stalls at stop signs and when this happens, i notice the engine light is not on.

So when i start it, if the light comes on, i am assured that it will run fine, but if i start and dont see the engine light i know it will stall and idle very low like 300-400 rpms. Very wierd, what could be causing this?? computer issues??? why is the engine light not coming on all the time??

i cant rem if the 01 Sub has a cable or wire throttle.. but if it has the cable, take the IAC out of the throttle body and give it a nice cleaning.

My brothers truck did the same thing except it was a 04 and after we put plugs and wires on it, it never done it again. The plugs looked horrible also.

 

Check the fuel pressure regulator.
