I ordered a pushrod length tool cause im suspecting the heads i put on my motor were milled. So im wondering can i use the tool to tell if the heads have been milled? Also can you use the tool with hydraulic lifters? My Prob is my truck is pulling a massive amount of timing all the time, so Im starting to think maybe my compression is to high for pump gas with the flat top pistons(if the heads have been milled)? Right now im running 7.4 pushrods with comp adj. roller rockers.

check the CC of the cumbustion chamber if they are being pulled
figure out how many cc they are and do the math

Pulling timing could be high IAT temps
Is it pinging or spark knocking?

The heads are still on the truck, and there is no noise it is just pulling timing 10* at times... If i cant figure a way to use the pushrod tool im just gonna put a few gallons of 110 octane in it and see if it still gets KR or not. Also what the hell would make this motor pull 10*of timing?

whats your IAT at? high intake air temp will pull timing and be a dog

the rod checker isnt the best way nor the most accurate way to check if the heads were milled unless they were milled severely, the best way to find out if heads have been milled is by knowing the combustion chambers as stock, then using a burette and some gread and water or fluid of such.
