transgo question

Is it normal after installing a shift kit and the fluid being out for everthing to take a few runs to reprime itself? When I took it out for a test drive, i'd give it gas from a start and it would rev up and move real slow. It seemed to go away more after I drove it some more. Is this normal? All the gears are there.

Did you check the fluid level with the engine running in park? Rule-of-thumb with ATF is to check level, drive through the gears, check level again, and then check the next day.
What's happening is not normal. There is no priming time, it should have been right from the start. If it feels like it's slipping be very careful. Try not to let it get to third gear - you don't want to warp the 3-4 clutch steels or you'll have to rebuild.
If the fluid level is correct start troubleshooting...

Something isn't right, it shouldn't do that "some of the time". Is there ANY part of the instructions/procedure that you were unsure of???? I have rebuilt a few that already had TransGo kits installed and I found that: A)wrong springs were in the wrong place (i.e. white accumulator spring installed where the white AFL spring went) and B) mispositioned spacer plate gaskets.

The only thing we didn't do was change the spring and spacers for the servos. I bought some billet servos we're going to install later. I did, however, change the spring in the valve body that was based on what servo is in the truck. Everything else we checked and double checked and checked again.
