Alright Hit Man (others too) ... let's hear it. What do ya'll say for clutches and such? I need some stuff that's gonna grip.

I posted all this stuff in the tranny forum, but I don't expect a single post in there. Help me out guys!

I went with Raybestos. I have the 8-plate Blue Plate 3-4 clutch pac. Very firm 2-3/3-4 shift. Almost firmer than my 1-2.

I love that 9 pack o' Red Eagles for the 3-4 for sure. They are just every so slightly thinner and grab like a *****. Full faced, not waffled texutre like those BW Tans. They also come with the Kolene Steels. Their backing is a highly heat resistant material also. I didn't like these a while ago until I started reading about them indepth and how more clutch surface area helps with heat dissipation.

Make sure to get the clearances right there, you can mix and match steels and retaining rings/plates to get it just right.

Hell, I'd prolly go with that Red Eagles in the forward clutch pack too.

Since you have/going to get that wider drum either the Kevlar 2-4 band or the Alto one will work. They are better as the anchor is like 60% larger! Also wider but like I've said the smallest band for the 4L60E is still wider than any I've seen.

Get as much fluid to that 3-4 pack as possible. Get that lil valve you were telling me about also from Sonnax. Block that 4th accumulator, toss the 4th gear check ball. Toss the check ball in the input shaft to firm up the lockup also. Apparently the one behind that manual valve can go also. Toss those load return springs in the 3-4 pack also. I belive the 5th check ball for the overrun clutches can also be tossed for better downshifts.

Doesn't your input drum also have them small holes to prevent centrifual apply of the clutches in 1st and 2nd gears? Did it come that way or were they added later?

Are your feed holes .100-120 for the shifts?
