Default tr224 on a 112 and patriot dual gold springs and ti retainers?

what do you guys think about the springs? I have a tsp220 114+4 now 334/338 dyno numbers full bolton comp 918's. would like to keep a tsp220 and get it on a 112+4, but want just a little more and found this deal for $350. do you guys think it would be worth the time and money?
thanks

If you dont need the dual springs then dont run them.....i run comp 918's on my .588" lift cam on XER lobes with Ti retainers. the dual springs are heavier at the valve than the 918's

Well here is my take on it... First off if the Ti retainers are Patriots, i have read they weigh as much as stockers, due to there size, so there is no real benefit in running them, that was from several posts on Tech... Keep your current springs and sell the partriot springs and retainers..

The TR224
Your current cam has an overlap of -8* which is not the best for higher RPM effiency... The TR224 has an overlap of 0* which IMO 3*-0* would be ideal for a 5.3, according to several posts by PatrichG that I have read on tech... He mentions that 6* of overlap on a LS1 is ideal for DD and performance, he also mentions to add or subtract 6* of overlap per 50cubic inches... So for you 5.3 that would be roughly 3*...

I don't have the exact TR cam lobe specs for the 224 duration, but i believe TR grinds 4* of advance into the cam, so it would be 112+4, compared to your 114+4, i would think that it would increase your DCR slightly if not keep it the same, so I would think that your TQ will not suffer, but that is purely speculation.... Without the lobe specs it is hard to guess, usually when you go above 222* you start bleeding off cylinder pressure rather quickly... IMO it would be worth it.... for upper RPM HP not for mid range TQ....

Now the Comp 220 (It is not TSP, they just sell the cam)

If you say got a COMP 220 XER 110+4 it would have the same overlap as the TR224, but the lower duration combined with the low LSA would make a really good TQ cam for the midrange and the overlap would help up top, should be a little easier to tune the idle due to the smaller duration... So with this cam you should gain TQ and HP....

However if your having idleing problems with your current cam the TR224 112+4 and the COMP220 110+4 is going to make it ALOT worse... Just food for thought, i am sure some will not agree with some or all that i posted but oh well I am not an expert by any means.....

thanks for the info coey, Jason is going to buy the springs and I want the cam, so that would put that cam in the $200 range. I think it would make a good cam for my setup.
