Default Tr 227

Thinking about getting this cam Tr227, what else will i need such as a stall and springs push rods? Will it be much of a diffrence, on low end also on high end, and will it take much tuning, My thinking is no to all because of the cam size. TIA

Talk to Fogle04; he had one in his truck. Think he might still be trying to get rid of it too, I'm not sure. You'll need new springs and pushrods as well, and probably at least a 3000 stall.

You are going to need quite a bit of tuning for that. You will gain a huge amount of top end but loose quite a bit of bottom end. You need atleast a 3000 stall for it. With all the supporting mods and a good tune it will make a night and day difference in your truck.

TR227 in a 4.8 is gonna need a buttload of tuning and a major stall...I would think in the 3500 range. Low end torque will be non-existant but high end hp should be awesome with the right tuning. Definitely gonna need springs (Comp 918's) and hardened pushrods. I'd think you'd probably be revving up to 6800 rpm to get the most out of that cam.

more like a 3500 stall. just make sure your combo is right going with a big cam like that.

With this cam defiantely a dyno tune. Nelson is great I have him tune my truck but with that kind of cam if you want max performance it really needs to be someone tuning it in person unless you can find someone that can log for you with HPT then send Allen the log then get him to do it.

How far are you from PA? You could call Bryan from PCMforLess and see what he could do for ya.
