Default tr 220 vs tr224?

I'm not sure which cam to get, I will be getting a tci 3000 stall for my setup but I don't know which cam to get. I'm afraid the tr220 cam will be too small for my liking and that the tr224 will be to big for my liking.

What are ya'lls experiences and opinions about both?
also the tci 3k stall will be ok w/o a shift kit correct? I think the STR ration is like 2.25:1 or maybe it's 2.5:1 I can't remember

Also, what LSA is recommended 112 or 114 for a stalled truck.

TIA

From my readings in the past the 224 will pull to a slightly higher RPM vs the 220. I'd say 200-400 RPM more at the most. Power should be about the same between then.

I believe you'll want the wider LSA for the nitrous.

LSA should determine how the powerband peaks and tapers too. Oh as well as idle quality and idle vac.

I'm kinda zoned out now, so that's a few things that came to my mind...

I think i read on a few threads that the 112 will keep the peak power at a lower rpm than the 114 tr224...the ls1 guys seem to not have much issue w/224s and even consider them as very mild cams...so I think it would be a nice moderate/slightly aggressive cam for the 5.3s

that's what I've understood so far from reading old threads

If you have a 4.8 or 5.3 I would stick with the 220. The street manners are going to be better with the 220. I think the 224 would be too big for a 5.3 or lower but that is my oppinion. The lower the lsa will bring the power band down a little or peak I should say but the lower may also give you tuning troubles. I ended up getting a cartek m cam, although not installed yet, the numbers are 218/222, 563, 113. So I went for middle of the road I guess. Gustin did a write up on the TR220 with and without the stall. As far as the stall without the shiftkit...I would recco the shiftkit too. It will only help your trans especially if your gonna spray. Transgo and billet servo's.

i think i might go ahead and get the 224, because I don't want to get the milder 220 and change my mind and regret my choice.
I don't tow or haul anything so I dont mind not having low end grunt

I love the TR224 114. In my Z28 it feels like stock in the low rpms, and above 3500 it comes alive. I have the idle set at 900rpms and its hard to tell it has a cam. IMO the TR224 is not to big for a 5.3. A T-Rex maybe, but now a little 224.

With your set up though i'd go with the 112LSA to make driving more fun. The power will come on a little sooner, and the lope is known to make panties wet.
