Default Towing with a 4x4 Avalanche

in April we are going to be taking my dad's Avalanche to WV (carrying 4 4-wheelers, 4 people, and all of our stuff). right now the truck only has a drop-in K&N. we will definitely be putting a tranny cooler on it, but will the motor be alright pulling all that weight up mountains?

would you guys recommend any upgrades, like a cam, tune, or anything else? (drivablilty and fuel economy are big factors)

btw, don't flame me, i didn't find anything i liked on some searches, and i'm a noob when it comes to towing.

Thanks!

Yeah you should be fine. Does the trailer have brakes? If so get a good conroller.

wow, i forgot to mention the main thing we were worried about. last year we pulled all this stuff on an open trailer, but we'll be doing it with with a closed trailer this time. we're worried about the extra weight at drag of a closed trailer.

btw, no trailer brakes

What is your estimated weight of the loaded trailer? I occasionally pull a 16x7x8 enclosed utility trailer loaded right at 5K lbs w/ my truck and it pulls fine, granted the mileage will suffer significantly, but I keep it in tow/haul and 3rd if not on flat ground. My trailer is braked so that helps a lot with stopping and sway control. I still say yall should be fine, just take your time and don't try and win any races.
