Default Tow/Haul mode

Extending the shifts with the "tow/haul" mode... does this help or hurt E.T.? Any one try it to find out?

I have never gained anything with the tow haul mode active, except a friggen SES light. After a few hard launches on the motor, a 0740 code (TCC circuit malfunction) kept triggering. Somehow the converter was damged by the hard driving and use of tow/haul with a whopping 2500 miles. Later I ballooned the factory "non-ballooning" converter with a single hard launch on nitrous.

The PI Vig 3500 and transgo now reside in their place. Just gotta delete TQ management and things are great.

Anyone else? It seems the to/haul mode by keeping the motor in each gear longer would help power. Yes? No? AGAF?

It seems that using Tow/Haul usually slows mine down some. But, I'm still practicing launches & shift methods with this new truck, so none of my times have been really consistent anyway. Whenever I run my truck, I shift it manually. Letting it shift automatically has always resulted in slower times because it will shift into 3rd at ~1200ft mark, no matter if the tow/haul is on or not.

I need a shift light.

I think the tow haul mode works for part throttle shifts. Dont quote me on this but WOT it shifts at the same rpm with tow/haul on or off.

Mine actually seems to shift/run worse with it on.

The 3 times I have tried WOT launches with it on, the 1-2 shift occurs at 5400rpms, whereas in regualar mode it will go all the way to 6000rpms on the tach.

Also with the tq. management kicking in on the shift it almost feels as if the engine cuts out for a split second

I can't stress how much I HATE computer controlled automatic transmissions!!

I did a bunch of back to back runs at HRP in both modes.. John, the truck was about .05 faster with the tow -haul mode ON with stock tunning.. Now that the hpp3 is installed I never run with it..

Without the HPP3, manual shifting will also help.. It didn`t on the f bodies for me but it does on these trucks..If you shift right, you could drop about 2 tenths or so..
