Toughest Electric Cut-Outs?

I need some recommendations on this one....

I'm seeing a need for cut outs on the new KB 2.8 set up. I blew my passenger side exhaust open yesterday at a clamped section. It was a slip fit before yesterday.... now both sections are the same size :bomb: This was AFTER the cats.

So... I clearly need more exhaust flow to uncork this system. My thoughts are for a pair of 2.5 inch cut outs to install in front of my cats so I can open them when I want but still be quiet on the street. Who makes electric cut outs that won't melt or bend?

I've never had much luck with electric cut outs they always seem to leak after a few months,QTP makes them.

QTP + aluminum gaskets work pretty well, but if you're FI make sure they give you the steel geared version.

I've got a used one I'll be selling with the steel gears, but only have one.

Go with DMH. My QTP's fell apart, literally, in only two weeks, then charged me to fix their pieces of shit.

same here, but mine lasted almost 3 months. It leaked from day one. I could stop the leak, if I held the switch closed. When I told them about the issue, they said it was an improper installation. If the leak went away when I held the switch closed, how is that a bad install? A couple months later, the plate blew off when I was driving down the highway. I have several problems with there design. You couldn't pay me to put another one of those pieces of sh!t on my ride.

I'd recommend getting one from Keith McCord. It's cheaper than the others, but a better built unit. Instead of having barely enough room to get a nut on the bolts, this design has slots, so there is room for adjustment and an overall better fit.

Thanks for the feedback so far! Does Keith have a website?

Any more comments anyone?

DMH or the Dougs guillotine style will be the best bet.

so basically on my stock exhaust piping i would have a 3" cutout welded either right before the cat or right after and then McCords power plate welds to the cut out? is this cut out fine for this:

???
What would a shop probably charge for these welds?
