Default Torque Management Issue?

Yet another problem I am starting to notice the more I drive my truck (2000 Silverado w/5.3L)

WOT from a dead stop, the 1-2 shift is hellatiously sloppy when it shifts. It's a noticeably stagnant shift into 2nd, nose dives and feels jerky and seems to lurch the truck into 2nd gear. Is that a sign of the dreaded tq. mgmt.?

I thought maybe I would try the tow/haul setting and that made it even worse. Almost felt like the engine stalled for a brief second on the 1-2 shift with it on and it only reved to about 5400rpms before shifting.

Thoughts?
