torque management

OK now that this post has been edited by me and Jason, it will stay on the subject. Slowverado, I have given you several warnings about your postings. Let me add to the list, No offensive ethnic jokes either. Jason edited the statments and I just went delete crazy. The rest of you guys, I'm sorry this didn't get caught sooner, but I deleted the posts about it so this thread could have life. Email me or PM me if there are any questions about it please.
Thanks,
Greg

If there was a miracle button to turn off torque management, would it be worth it? You would improve a couple hundredths of a second, and you would fry the transmission much sooner. Would it be worth it? Only if you have a high performance built transmission (or deep pockets...)

well, it may not always be good to "turn off" torque management. This is from a stand point of caring about your transmission life. When you get it reprogrammed it doesnt have to be turned completely off though, you could always just scale it down a bit so its not AS bad.

something like that... i know in autotap you can monitor engine torque output or a few different parameters like that. so to answer your question, yes, it does know the ammount of torque being sent to the transmission

Long before transmissions where all fancy electronic, no such thing as torque management was around. Those transmissions didn't explode because of it!
All TM does is smooth out the transistion between gears by reducing power being layed on it. It makes it smoother on the transmission but more importantly makes it shift smooth and seamless to the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
By deleting torque management, yes you are now allowing the trans to take a full hit, but I don't think the life/longevity loss can be calculated and as such, I think it's a moot point.
Those of you who put shift kits on don't seem to be concerned about life/longevity of the trans, so why is it such a big deal by eliminating a provision GM put into the PCM/BCM in order to simply make your drive smoother? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

It doesn't make mine smooth and seamless... It makes it feel like the transmission dropped out. The other day I floored it when my mom was in there and when it nosedived during the shift she was like What the hell was that???
