Default Is torque lost with the 212/218 cam?

I was wanting to get a cam, but don't want to lose too much torque down low. Would that cam need programming? When I do get a cam I will also replace the springs and pushrods. I just want something that pulls harder than my p.o.s 99' cam. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We installed this cam in a customer's '99 5.3l truck a few months back. He had all the bolt ons (headers, pulley, etc). The only change in the graph was the addition of the Comp 212/218, Comp 918s, and 7.400" Thunder Racing pushrods.

It was a night and day difference. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Is this the cam that you guys are talking about?

Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 212 / 218 .522 / .529 114 LSA 1200-6000 RPM Power Band. Excellent low-end power. Mild Camshaft, great for automatic cars with the stock or mild aftermarket torque converter and daily drivers. Works well with Crane 1.8 Roller Rockers.

Also, are the Comp 918s valvesprings?

Thats the cam. The 918 would be fine, but you wouldn't use the full capacity of those springs. The 01 or 02 LS6 spring would work fine for that cam as well.

Does it have a noticeable lope to it? I'd really like something that sounded a bit meaner than the stock cam profile, but still keep all of the driveability!
