So like a dumbass during my cam swap (working on very little sleep and getting dark outside) I was removing old RTV from where the bottom side of the front cover meets the oil pan and I completely ripped off the whole front segment of the oil pan gasket! Can I get away with just RTV'ing the front or maybe RTV'ing the torn out segment of gasket back in place. Or am I stuck pulling the pan and placing a new gasket?

 

RTV would probably work if it is placed perfectly. But I would just replace it. I can replace the oil pan in under an hour. I've done it a few times. Just drop the crossmember and drop the pan

 

I would pull the pan and replace the gasket. Nothing worse than an oil leak. Clean your pickup screen while your at it, mine was covered in ****.

 

Ugh, guess you guys are right. Last time I dropped the steering rack though I had to get another alignment. There's gotta be a way to do it without throwing off the steering.

 

I have dropped mine several times and i have never needed an alignment afterwards.

 

mine needs an alignment dropped the rack when i did the hydro boost

 

If you don't get the rack back in the exact spot the steering wheel will be crooked. Just loosen it and move it till it's straight. It won't change any if the alignment values.

 

I have actually done that before the first time I took the front cover off since I didnt know any better. Lots of rtv and it never leaked!
