Thanks for the insight guys. I decided to just go ahead and swap the engine with a low mileage LQ9. Looking forward to seeing how it goes!

put a cam in the 6.0!

Funny how all those LQ9s for sale all have "only 90k"

He probably just bought an LQ9 with about 242k miles and threw a cam on it, you just probably dont know that lol.

50k or 242k, just put a cam on it and send it! lol
I wouldve refreshed the timing gears, guides, covers, water pump regardless of the mileage

Man what I would do to put a Lower mileages motor back in my truck. I cammed my 5.3 with 296k. It’s currently sitting at 312k and been cammed for 2 years now, I beat the **** out of it. No issues or worries.

i did a whole top end rebuild. Removed the heads, got them ported and polished and added bigger valves. New oil pump and gaskets, lifters and everything.

only thing is depending on what you want, I wish I would have did a stage 4 cam instead of stage 3. But I’ve used the stage 2 in a few trucks and it’s a around healthy cam.

if you are truly worried about the motor, either 2 things.
full send it
or find a new one or upgrade to a 6.0

No such thing as too many miles for a cam, or any other power adder. The only question is is the engine healthy enough for there to be a point in doing modifications to it. If it's healthy. Mod away.

I just put that exact cam in my 2007 CCSB yesterady. I have 160K miles on the clock. Same though, the thing runs like a dream, no knocks or ticks. Truck runs so much better, my tune hasn't showed up yet but even on my stock PCM it runs well, hunts a little bit at idle but hasn't stalled yet. My Black Bear PCM should be back here Monday or Tuesday, I sent it out for a reflash for the cam. Only thing I noticed when I had mine apart were the pushrods are fairly worn on the rocker arm end so I'm going to order a set of hardened push rods before too long and install them. I bought the truck with 130K on it last year, not sure on past maintenance etc, but I strictly run only Mobil 1 at 5K intervals.

Was wanting to do a LQ9 swap as well, but the gas prices are stupid up here in Canada, almost $5/gal for 87. This truck gets 20-21mpg highway and I want to keep it as best as it can since my commute to work is 45 miles each way. I get 4 to 4.5 days out of a tank @ $110.

Glad you posted that, just yesterday I was trying to find a clip of a jones turbine on a truck with headers and no cats.

Did you do the xl? Going by what I saw on their part numbers and you having 3" pipe, yours should be the jones jt3030 on your truck, or if it's the xl the jt3030xl. Do you know which one you put on?
