Default Tires for the lowered--Low profile guys

I've been trying some different tires lately on my scsb 2wd. It has a 5/7 drop and finding tires that fit as well as give me some traction has been a challenge. I am pretty picky about looks so it has made it even harder. The first set of tires I ran were 245/40/20 hankooks. I put these on right after I lowered my truck and before the supercharger. They were a great performing tire and wore like iron as fare as 20's go. But as far a traction they were a complete joke after the radix. I just went to slicks at the track and called it good. But after getting beat on the street so many times because of limited traction I started trying some of my friends tires. The first which didn't really fit were 275 45 20 goodyear eagle II's.My traction got better but I had to air up the shocks so far that it was just stupid looking. Next were some 275 45 20 proxes s/t's(siped). Got great traction but again stupid looking. I came acrossed some used 275 40 20 michelin 4x4 diamaris. They were bout 50% thread. I think I have found my new tire. After heating them up and get the pressure around 28psi. They stuck pretty well. Not that I could stall it up and launch full throttle but with good foot control I could get out of the hole. They fit for the most part I might have to trim the lip on the fender well. They look pretty decent on my truck. I would have liked to drop the pressure some more and made a few more runs tonight around the streets but I manage to toast my serpentine belt. After that hole fiasco I just came home. These tires are a bit expensive new but for anyone that wants to keep the very low look and get some traction give them a try.

It looks great on my Darkside skin.

I had 255/35 Pilot Sport A/S's back in the day, and they seemed to hook pretty good. I'm glad to hear that the Diamaris tires work well--I'm looking into their 315/35/20s in a bit.

If you like the way the Toyos hooked, they have new sizes for 20's that are smaller like 255/45/20.

I'm on the darkside too didn't see the problem. With 315/35/20s what backspacing will you half to have to get them in the fender well?

I'm still working on that!

I'm currently running 8.5" rims on all 4 corners, but plan on sending 2 back to Boyd to get them re-hooped to 10" or 11" sometime next year.
